SPECIAL COOKING PRESENTATION by SHARON KELLY

Sharon is a Canadian transplant, who has been living in Los Angeles for 10 years.  She started cooking professionally 5 years ago, training under Chef Craig Strong who, at the time, was the chef at the Michelin rated fine dining restaurant "The Dining Room" at the Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena. She then moved over to Mark Peel's Campanile for his seasonal, rustic approach to food.  She decided to spend a year in Canada and used that time to reacquaint herself with winter.  She was back in Los Angeles the following spring.  Sharon soon started Fred Elm creating Canadian classics such as the rillettes and savory meat pies known as "tourtiere". 

 

Growing up in Ottawa, Ontario with French Canadian parents, her recipes reflect those regions. Potted Pork or rillettes as it's more commonly known here, is her #1 seller and Cube Restaurant and Marketplace currently sells it on their cheese menu. Sharon's approach to food is simple, refined, slow cooked dishes made with the best ingredients and a lot of love. She is heavily influenced and inspired by local chefs like Suzanne Goin for her simple, seasonal approach and passion for food, and of course by Craig Strong for his refinement and creative techniques.  A huge supporter of our local producers and farmers, Sharon obtains her proteins from one of L.A's best butchers.

After working several years in entertainment, Sharon always says that cooking is her passion and feeding people who enjoy her food makes her much happier than a day spent at the office.
